Palestinian PM Calls for Increased Global Efforts to Implement Gaza Truce
Speaking in Ramallah during a meeting with Elina Valtonen, Mustafa emphasized the urgent need to expand the delivery of humanitarian aid, supplies for relief, recovery, and temporary shelter, according to a statement from his office. He also stressed the importance of fully enforcing the ceasefire, noting that hundreds of Palestinians have been killed since the October 2025 agreement between Israel and Hamas took effect.
Mustafa also warned against Israel’s ongoing plans in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including annexation, settlement expansion, raids, checkpoints, settler attacks, and the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues. He highlighted the need to ensure implementation of relevant United Nations resolutions to preserve Palestinian territorial unity, achieve an independent state, and enable the government to meet its responsibilities toward citizens in Gaza and the West Bank.
Valtonen reiterated Finland’s support for efforts to end the war in Gaza, promote reconstruction, and uphold international resolutions supporting the two-state solution and regional stability.
The second phase of the ceasefire, launched by the United States in mid-January, includes full Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza, Hamas disarmament, reconstruction initiatives, and the establishment of a transitional governing body in the enclave.
